Just dropped $80 on a fancy squirrel-proof feeder and guess what?
I saw a video online about this metal cage feeder that was supposed to be totally squirrel proof, so I ordered one. It got here last week and I filled it with black oil sunflower seeds. The squirrels were on it in less than an hour, hanging upside down and pulling seeds right through the gaps. Now I'm out the cash and they're still eating all my food. Has anyone found a feeder that actually works for those little thieves?

Squirrels treat those "squirrel-proof" cages like a fun puzzle game. They see your new feeder and take it as a personal challenge. You basically just bought them a fancy new all-you-can-eat buffet.

Wait they got seeds through the metal cage gaps?

The struggle is real. My bird feeder has the same problem, and it's honestly impressive how determined squirrels can be. They turn into furry little contortionists for a handful of seeds. I've watched them hang upside down and just rake the food out with their claws. You might need to look into a different style of cage or add a baffle.
