Paid $45 for a squirrel proof feeder and it lasted 2 weeks, so I built one for $8
I got tired of squirrels emptying my tube feeder in a single morning so I dropped $45 on one of those metal cage feeders from the hardware store in town. Two weeks later a fat gray squirrel chewed through the plastic port and the whole seed tube dumped onto the lawn. So I grabbed an 8 foot length of 1/2 inch galvanized pipe and a cheap slinky style baffle for $8 total and hung the feeder from a shepherd hook 6 feet off the ground with the baffle above it. It has been 5 months now and not one squirrel has gotten a single seed. Has anyone else had luck with a homemade baffle or did I just get lucky with my setup?
