PSA: Watch your feeders this week, lost 3 goldfinches at my place near Dayton
I keep two nyjer feeders and a suet cage in my yard near Dayton, and this past week I found three dead goldfinches under the feeders in four days. My neighbor's cat has been stalking the hedge line since her grandkids moved out, and I watched it take a bird Tuesday morning around 7. I moved everything ten feet from the bushes and put a baffle on the pole, and the deaths stopped. If your feeders sit close to any cover, check it this week, has anyone had luck with those motion sprinklers or is netting the better fix?
Three goldfinches in four days is brutal, sorry man. My neighbor's cat does the same thing every spring when the birds start nesting low, and I've noticed it's always the cats whose owners swear they never leave the yard. The baffle plus moving the feeders is honestly the fix, netting just became a birds-get-tangled mess for me.
