That UV light for bird mites was a complete waste of $40
I saw someone online swear by using a blacklight to spot bird mites on feeders. So I bought one off Amazon for $40 and spent a whole Saturday shining it on every feeder and nest box in my backyard in Ohio. The only thing it lit up was a weird stain on my patio where I spilled coffee last month. I didn't find a single mite, and the next day I just scraped off some old seed buildup with a putty knife and that solved my problem. The light is now sitting in a drawer gathering dust. Has anyone actually gotten those things to work for anything besides finding pet stains?

Goodness, $40 is a lot to spend on a light that just shows you your old coffee spill. That would have put me in a sour mood for a week. I can see why you'd be frustrated, especially when a simple putty knife did the trick. Those gadgets sure sound promising in the ads, but half the time they just end up as expensive dust collectors.

Wait, did you just say expensive dust collector? Because I think that's the official name for half the stuff in my junk drawer. I'm pretty sure my Amazon order history is just a long list of things I was convinced would change my life but instead just taught me how to spot a scam.
