Thought nyjer seed was a waste of cash until the goldfinches showed up in Force
I always figured those tiny black seeds were a gimmick and stuck with plain sunflower hearts in my feeders here in Boise. Then a guy at the Wild Birds Unlimited on State Street told me to try a $9 bag of nyjer in a finch sock, and within four days I had 11 goldfinches fighting over it. The sock hangs from a shepherd's hook about 6 feet off the ground near my back fence. Now I'm wondering what else I dismissed too fast, anybody got a seed or feeder they wrote off and then got proved wrong?
