I was refinishing a dresser I got for $30 at a garage sale in Tulsa and kept tearing through sheets of the 80 cent sandpaper, getting nowhere after two hours. The guy at the counter said "you're paying for sawdust, buy the $3 stuff and it lasts 5 times longer," and sure enough the nicer paper cut my sanding time down to 40 minutes with a way smoother finish. Has anyone else had a cheap tool or supply that was actually costing them more in the long run?
