I used to fight with my garage fridge every month until one fix changed it
Three months ago I had a bad day where my garage fridge iced up so bad I couldn't close the door. I spent two hours chipping ice and pulling out drawers, and then the next day it did the same thing. I used to think the fridge was just old and trashy, so I'd hack at it with a screwdriver and hope for the best. What changed was my dad came over and showed me the drain tube was clogged with gunk. He stuck a pipe cleaner in there and cleared it out fast. Now I flush it with hot water every two months and the fridge runs clean. Has anyone else dealt with a garage fridge that keeps freezing over no matter what you do?

Has anyone else tried the old pipe cleaner trick and felt like a total idiot for not thinking of it sooner? I mean, I spent months cursing at my garage fridge and attacking it with a butter knife (real smart, I know). One clogged drain tube was the whole problem, and I was ready to drop a few hundred bucks on a new one. It's almost insulting how easy the fix is, like the fridge was laughing at me the whole time.

Can't believe you used a butter knife. That's wild. I tried a wire hanger once. Bent it all up, scratched the inside of the fridge. Felt like a caveman. The pipe cleaner is way smarter. Fridge definitely gets the last laugh.
