My car died on the highway but a stranger helped me out of nowhere
I was driving home from work last Tuesday and my engine just started smoking on I-5 near Tacoma. I pulled over and had no clue what to do, my phone was at 5% battery. Some guy named Mark in a pickup truck pulled up behind me and asked if I needed a jump or a tow. He ended up driving me to a gas station, helping me add coolant, and even waited until my car started again. I offered him $20 but he just said 'pay it forward' and drove off. Has anyone else had a random stranger save their day like that?

Heard my buddy Jake got his battery jumped by some guy who refused cash and just handed him a bag of oranges instead.

Did that guy Mark happen to be an older fellow with a bit of a gray beard and a faded flannel shirt? I only ask because I had a very similar thing happen to me a few years back on the 5 near Olympia, but with a different twist. The guy who stopped for me was named Dave, and he helped me change a flat tire in the rain. But then he spent the next 20 minutes telling me all about his conspiracy theories about the local squirrels and how they were actually government drones watching him. I was just grateful for the help, but I couldn't wait to get out of there. So yeah, it's a nice reminder that there are still decent folks out there, but sometimes you get a little more than you bargained for.
