My tire blew out on I-75 last Tuesday but a semi driver pulled over and changed it in 12 minutes flat.

Nothing like watching a total stranger spend his lunch break fixing my mess while I held the flashlight, and he even showed me how to use the jack properly before he left.

Read somewhere that semi drivers actually have a code where they help each other on the road like that, so maybe we just looked desperate enough. Either way, pretty solid life lesson on not taking strangers for granted.

Funny you mention that code thing. I was broken down on I-80 once, middle of nowhere Iowa just after midnight. Had a semi driver pull over and ask if I needed a jump. Turned out my battery was fine but the alternator was shot. He didn't have one but he called two other truckers he knew and one of them had a buddy with a spare alternator at a truck stop fifty miles away. Two hours later I was back on the road and they wouldn't take a dime. Made me realize how much we've lost that kind of random neighborly help in regular life.
