Overheard 'you can't fix a flat with a smile' at the DMV, and it changed my routine
Last Tuesday I was stuck in line at the DMV in Austin, already fuming about a 2 hour wait, when a guy behind me told his kid that exact line. It hit me weird because my morning had been a disaster: my car battery died, I spilled coffee on my shirt, and I got passed over for a shift. But instead of trying to cheer myself up, I just let myself be annoyed for 10 minutes, then went and grabbed a taco truck burrito. That little break flipped my whole mood, and the DMV turned out fine. Do you guys ever just lean into the bad feeling first, or do you force a positive spin right away?
