Two ways to snap out of a bad mood: vent it out or walk it off?
Last Tuesday I got a flat tire in the rain on I-35 and sat in my car for 20 minutes just fuming about it. I used to call my sister and rant for an hour every time something like that happened, and honestly it just kept me mad longer. Now I put my headphones on and walk around the block twice, about 15 minutes total, and by the time I get home I can actually laugh about it. My sister says holding it in is worse for you and that talking it out is the only real fix. I think there is something to both, but the walk works faster for me. Which one actually turns your day around, talking to someone or moving your body?
Man, a flat tire in the rain is annoying but is it really a "bad mood" emergency? That is like a 30 minute problem, tops. You got it fixed, you moved on, and yeah the walk probably helped just because it got you out of your own head. But ranting to your sister for an hour about a tire? That just gives the tire more power than it deserves. Some stuff is not worth a whole phone call, let alone a whole hour.
