After my third batch of dry scones, I tried brushing them with cream before baking.

Used to just throw them in dry and wonder why they came out like hockey pucks. Brushing with heavy cream is a total game changer. It gives the tops that golden color and keeps the inside from turning into dust.

The third time I made scones I accidentally used buttermilk instead of heavy cream and they came out like fluffy little clouds instead.
