Hit 500 sourdough loaves last week and it hit me different
Ngl I just counted up my notebook and realized I've baked over 500 loaves since I started in 2020. Anyone else surprised by how many loaves they've turned out over the years?

Hit me different" is interesting cause I actually feel the opposite about hitting big numbers like that. For me counting loaves makes it feel more like a factory than something I actually enjoy. I get the pride in being consistent but 500 loaves since 2020 doesn't even sound like that much when you break it down. Thats roughly one loaf every three or four days which is basically just regular weekly baking for a lot of people. I guess Im just not into the competitive side of home baking. The whole "how many loaves have you made" thing feels weird to me. Like bread is about relaxing and making something good for your family not keeping score.

You're right that 500 loaves over 4 years works out to about once every 3-4 days, @hill.jade, but I think that actually shows more consistency than most people realize. Most home bakers I know tend to go in waves where they'll bake 5 loaves one week then nothing for a month. That steady rhythm of one loaf every few days for years is harder to maintain than people give credit for.
