My sister told me my bread was 'too dense' and I got so mad I started weighing ingredients
She said my sourdough felt like a brick last Thanksgiving, which stung because I thought it was perfect. Turned out I was eyeballing flour instead of actually measuring it, and now I use a $20 scale from Target for everything. Anyone else get saved by a mean comment from family?

Oh man, the "too dense" comment is brutal but honestly it saved my baking too. I used to just scoop flour straight from the bag and now I weigh everything and my crumb is way more consistent. That scale was the best twenty bucks I ever spent, hands down.

Practice weighing your ingredients enough and you will learn to eyeball them correctly without the scale.
