Appreciation post: My scale vs. cups battle in baking
Idk, I started using a kitchen scale for flour, and my cakes got way better. But my friend swears by measuring cups and says it's just as good. Which method do you prefer for consistent results?

Wait, your friend still uses cups for everything after seeing how much better the scale works for flour? That's wild to me. Once you see how accurate weighing is, why would you go back to guessing with volume? Butter is the best example, a cup of solid butter versus grams is a huge difference. The scale just takes all the stress out of baking because the numbers don't change.

Right? I bet they're still packing that flour down like they're building a sandcastle. @paiger26 gets it, grams are just the truth.

Scales win every time for consistent baking. A cup of flour can weigh totally different amounts depending on how you scoop it, but grams don't lie. Have you tried weighing your other ingredients yet?
