Forgot to sift my cocoa powder at a friend's birthday party and ended up with gross lumps in the cake batter.

Spent 20 minutes picking cocoa chunks out of the bowl at my sister's place in Chicago, so now I always sift it over a paper towel first to catch any hard bits, has anyone else dealt with lumpy dry ingredients ruining a bake?

A fine mesh strainer works way better than a regular sifter for cocoa. Just tap it over the bowl and those lumps stay put.

Dropped a whole bowl of cocoa flour on the counter last week doing exactly that and it went everywhere.
