Found out my oven runs 25 degrees too hot after 3 years of burning cookies

I've been wondering why my chocolate chip cookies always came out dark on the bottom even when I followed the recipe exactly. Finally bought a cheap $8 oven thermometer from Target and realized my oven is 25 degrees off. I just started setting the dial 25 degrees lower and suddenly everything comes out perfect (well, not always but way better). Has anyone else had a big temperature gap in their oven like this?

Grabbed a cheap oven thermometer from Amazon after burning my third batch of banana bread and found out mine runs 30 degrees cold. Started adjusting the dial up by 30 and now my baked goods actually come out the way they're supposed to lol. It's crazy how just a little temp difference can mess everything up without you realizing it.

Wait, did you check if your oven runs hot on certain settings too? Mine says it's accurate at 350 but is off by like 40 degrees on broil and 25 on the lower temps for things like slow roasting. I feel like oven thermometers just reveal how much of a gamble cooking actually is unless you babysit it.
