Hit 100 loaves baked this month, my countertop has permanent flour dust
I started tracking every bake on a sticky note in my kitchen and hit 100 loaves exactly yesterday, which included 23 sourdough disasters with burned bottoms. The win mattered because I finally learned my oven runs hot by 25 degrees after all those failures, so I lowered the temp and got a perfect crumb for the first time. Anyone else keep a bake counter and notice their failures actually taught them more than the wins?
My baking counter is just a tally of how many times I've set off the smoke alarm and then eaten the evidence anyway. Congrats on the crumb breakthrough though, that's the kind of win that makes the 23 charred bricks feel like tuition fees for oven school. I'm convinced my oven has a personal vendetta against me, so I just bake everything at 350 and pray. Maybe I need to start a sticky note too, but mine would just say "buy more flour" in increasingly messy handwriting.
