My oven thermometer read 25 degrees off and that's why my cookies kept burning
Bought a $7 dial thermometer at the hardware store in Reno and it showed my oven runs hot at 375. Anyone else find their oven temp was lying to them this whole time?
A dial thermometer in the oven is only as good as how you read it, since you have to peek through the glass and the needle moves around while it heats. The more accurate way is to hang it in the center and let the oven run for 20 minutes before you check it, then compare that number to what you set. Your 25 degree gap is real, but do a second test before you trust that number for baking.
