My sourdough starter finally doubled in size after 12 days and I almost cried.
I followed a guide from a baker in Portland and kept it in my oven with just the light on, which finally gave it the consistent warmth it needed. Anyone else have a stubborn starter that took forever to get going?

Remember my first starter, I named it Bob. Bob lived in my drafty kitchen for three weeks and never did more than a few sad bubbles. Finally gave up and tossed him in the back of my car on a hot day by accident, came back to a monster! The heat was the trick all along.

Wow, that's wild! So you're saying your starter basically needed an oven-like environment to wake up? Makes me wonder if my kitchen is just too cold all the time. What kind of heat are we talking about, like a hot summer car interior? I'd be scared to cook it, but maybe that's the secret.
