My sourdough starter took 4 whole weeks before it finally doubled in size
I started a new starter back in January and it just sat there looking dead for almost a month while my friend's was ready in a week. Then I switched to filtered water and kept it in my microwave with the door cracked to hold warmth, and suddenly it took off. Has anyone else had a starter that took forever to wake up and then just exploded with activity?

Waited on mine for almost 6 weeks before it did anything. Felt like I was raising a pet rock. Finally dumped half of it, fed it with some rye flour instead of all purpose, and kept it in the oven with the light on. Suddenly it was bubbling like a science fair volcano. @john_johnson75 I feel your pain on that brutal wait, but now I'm the guy who can't get rid of starter fast enough. Go figure.
