Dollar store picture frames changed my whole framing game

I used to buy those $15 frames at Michaels for every thrift store poster I found. Last month someone in the comments said I was wasting money when the dollar store frames are exactly the same glass and just need a quick spray paint. I tried it on a vintage map I got for $2 and honestly the black frame looked way better than anything I paid full price for. Now I only hit the dollar store first and keep the spray paint in the garage. Anyone else repaint cheap frames or am I late to this?
