Finally caved and bought a $3 vinyl tablecloth from the discount bin at Ollie's

I used to think any tablecloth was a waste of money, just use placemats right? Well last month I grabbed this ugly floral one from the bin at Ollie's Bargain Outlet for three bucks on a whim. Had a big family dinner thing last week, someone spilled a whole glass of red punch and I just wiped it up with a sponge. Placemats would have been ruined. Has anyone else found random home stuff at bargain stores that changed your mind about something?

Ngl, a cheap tablecloth just makes your whole kitchen look trashy though.

Cheap tablecloths are actually super practical if you have kids or pets. A $10 vinyl one from the hardware store wipes clean with a sponge and you don't have to panic if someone spills spaghetti sauce. The expensive linen ones just end up in the laundry pile or get stained anyway, in my experience. Function over fashion for a kitchen table makes a lot of sense.
