Found a 50 cent mug that changed how I make coffee

Picked up this ugly green mug at a Salvation Army in Tulsa for 50 cents last weekend. Turns out it's a vintage 1960s Japanese ceramic that keeps my coffee hot for like 2 hours straight. I looked it up and some of these sell for $80 online. Has anyone else accidentally scored something way more valuable than you thought?

Does it actually make the coffee taste better or just hold heat?

Heat retention is the whole point because temperature stability lets the flavors develop more evenly throughout the cup. A big drop in temperature can mute subtle notes and make the roast taste flat or bitter instead of balanced. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather have a warmer sip that actually tastes like the beans.
