Found a weird $3 gadget at Goodwill that might be a vintage cheese slicer?
I was digging through the kitchen junk at a Goodwill in Akron last weekend and found this metal thing with a wire and wooden handle for $3. It has no brand name and honestly looks like it could double as a torture device from the 1950s. Anyone know what this thing actually is or if it's worth keeping around?

My grandpa had one of those hanging in his garage for years. He used it to cut cheese but also to score bread dough before baking, which always made my grandma nervous. I remember him saying the wire gets dull over time and you can't really replace it, so it's more of a novelty than a daily driver. For three bucks, I'd keep it on a shelf as a conversation piece - your mileage may vary on actually using it for cheese though.

That thing sounds like it could double as a wire cheese cutter AND a medieval interrogation tool, which is honestly a solid deal for three bucks. Just be careful not to look at it wrong or it might decide to slice YOU instead of the cheddar. Worst case scenario you can hang it on the wall and tell people it's a vintage cheese sword.
