Met a guy at a flea market who only sells mismatched Tupperware lids

He had like 200 lids stacked in boxes sorted by color, no bases anywhere. Told me he's been collecting them for 12 years because "somewhere out there, someone needs to cover their bowl." Anyone else run into folks with weirdly specific niche collections?

Why would anyone need that many lids without a single base? Sounds like the guy is just hoarding plastic, not running some kind of lid rescue service.

Right there with you gavinh26, I've got a friend who's the exact same way with takeout lids. Found three drawers full of them in his kitchen last time I visited, all different sizes and shapes, zero containers to actually seal anything with. I get wanting to be prepared but at some point you gotta ask yourself if you're really saving anything or just making a weird plastic collection. He finally admitted he just liked how they stacked neatly and couldn't bring himself to throw them out. Maybe that's the real lid rescue service we're talking about here - rescuing people from their own clutter.
