That old guy at the thrift store told me to grab any wool sweater no matter the stain

Turns out he was right, a $3 stained wool sweater cleaned up perfect with just vinegar and patience, but my $50 new synthetic one pilled after two washes.

Whoa that is such a good story! I actually read something similar on a clothing care blog last week where they talked about how old wool is basically indestructible compared to the modern stuff. The synthetic fibers in cheaper clothes break down so fast from wear and drying, but natural wool can handle stains and cleaning way better. Makes me wonder why we even bother with polyester blends when a thrift store sweater can outlast them by years. Glad it worked out for you, that's a solid tip to remember.

The real trick is hand washing with cold water, that's what makes the fibers last.
