Appreciation post: the cheap tire pump I almost threw away
I used to think those $15 floor pumps from the hardware store were junk compared to the fancy brand name ones. But my neighbor let me borrow his after a flat on my way to work last Tuesday, and honestly it worked just fine. Added air in like 30 seconds and the gauge didn't even break. Now I keep one in my garage for my daily 5-mile commute and it's held up for 6 months. Has anyone else found a budget tool that surprised them?

So is the gauge actually accurate or just close enough? I've had cheap pumps that read totally wrong but still work fine otherwise.

Dude, totally! I've got a cheap dual cylinder pump I've had for years and the gauge is basically just decoration at this point. I've tested it against my digital gauge and it's off by like 8 psi. But the pump itself? Works fine, no leaks, inflates everything I need. I just have to remember to add or subtract that 8 psi in my head every time I use it.
