Found a 3 minute shortcut through the park that saves me from 4 traffic lights

I've been biking to my job downtown for about 8 months now and the morning intersection at 5th and Main was killing my commute time. Last Tuesday I noticed a gap in the fence by the old playground and now I cut through the park path instead. Anyone else found a random alley or trail that shaves off a chunk of their ride?

Wait, you found a gap in the fence? That's actually kinda wild, I've been riding through that same park for months and never noticed anything like that near the old playground. But honestly I'm more shocked those traffic lights haven't made you lose your mind by now, I've sat through that intersection on my bike and it feels like forever.

yeah @jadep41 you're totally right about that intersection being a nightmare. I sat through it once on my bike and almost got clipped by a car turning right on red. honestly those gaps in fences are little treasures. I found one behind the gas station near my place that cuts through to the bike path. saves me like two blocks of busy road. it's not much but every second counts when you're trying to get somewhere. plus the park path sounds way nicer than sitting at lights anyway.
