I stopped locking my bike with a U-lock and switched to a folding lock - huge difference in convenience

Was biking to my job in downtown Denver every day and got so tired of carrying a heavy U-lock in my backpack. It clanked around, took up space, and I always had to find a pole or rack to lock around. After 3 months of this nonsense I grabbed a folding lock from my local bike shop for $40. Game changer. I can wrap it around my waist or strap it to my frame, and it fits on weird bike racks or sign posts way easier than a U-lock. The security seems solid for a quick grocery run or a 9 hour work day has anyone else made the switch and found it holds up? My buddy says the hinges might rust after winter salt but I want to hear real stories.
