My secret to dry socks on rainy commutes - a $3 shower cap trick
I got caught in a downpour last Tuesday on my way to work in Portland. My backpack cover worked fine but water still dripped down my legs into my socks. A guy at the bike shop told me to put those cheap hotel shower caps over my shoes before putting on my rain pants. The elastic holds them tight around your ankle. Tried it yesterday in actual rain and my feet stayed bone dry for the first time ever. Anyone else have weird hacks like this for wet weather?

Noticed how the best solutions are always the cheapest ones that look ridiculous but work perfectly... it's like life's little inside joke on people who spend $50 on fancy gear.
