Rant: I swore bike shorts looked dumb until my 9 mile ride in Austin made me eat my words
I used to ride in old gym shorts every day and figured padded ones were just a scam to sell $60 fabric to try-hards. Then last month I did my 9 mile commute home in August heat and couldn't sit down for two days, so I caved and grabbed a $35 pair at a shop on South Lamar. Zero chafing since, and honestly my whole ride feels faster now. Has anyone found a cheap pair that actually lasts, or am I stuck paying full price every summer?
Idk about lasting but buying two cheaper pairs and rotating them seems to help, mine last way longer when they aren't getting washed after every single ride. Also worth checking the clearance racks at the end of summer, that's how I grabbed a decent pair for like 15 bucks.
