Serious question, how long did it actually take you to get a rack mounted straight?
So I bought a rear rack for my commuter back in March and figured it would be a 20 minute job on a Saturday morning. It ended up eating almost 4 hours and two trips to the hardware store because the struts that came with it were too short for my frame and nobody told me I needed different eyelets. I tried bending the brackets by hand first, which was a dumb idea, then stripped one of the bolts trying to force it. By the time I got it level and clear of my heel, my whole afternoon was gone and I hadn't even eaten lunch. The worst part is the rack rattled for a week until I went back and put a rubber washer under each bolt. I'm about to set up a front rack on my other bike and I really don't want to lose another Saturday to this. How long did yours actually take, and is there anything you wish you'd checked before you started bolting stuff on?
