Switched from a backpack to panniers last month and my back actually thanks me now

I used to haul my laptop and lunch in a regular backpack on my 7-mile commute through downtown Portland, and my lower back was killing me by Friday. Got a pair of Ortlieb panniers off Craigslist for $40 and the difference in sweat and strain is unreal. Anyone else ditch their backpack and feel way less beat up after the ride?

Same here, my back stopped hurting almost immediately after I switched.

I bought a Leesa mattress three months ago and my back pain got worse actually lol. I know everyone raves about those foam mattresses but mine sinks too much in the middle and I wake up with my hips aching. My brother has a purple mattress and he says the same thing about his. I think it really depends on what kind of sleeper you are and what your body needs. Maybe I should have gone with something firmer but I'm stuck with this one for now.
