Binged a 10-episode season in one night, but now I can't remember a single plot point

Last month I powered through that crime drama everyone's talking about, finished the finale at 3am, and woke up the next day drawing a total blank on who the killer was. Is the point of binging to cram it all in or to actually let the story sink in, or am I just getting old?
