Chose the 3 season foreign drama over the 8 season comfort show, no regrets

Last Saturday I had a free evening and had to pick between rewatching Suits for the 4th time or starting this Swedish crime series my coworker from Gothenburg kept pushing. I went with the foreign one, 3 seasons total, and the subtitles actually made me pay attention instead of scrolling my phone. Anyone else find shorter shows with subtitles hit harder than the endless comfort rewatches?
