Everyone says 'The Crown' fell off after season 4, but I think season 5 was the best one.

I binged the whole series over a month, and the shift after season 4 was obvious. The first four seasons felt like a soap opera about the Queen's early life. Then season 5 actually got into the messy politics of the 90s, like the 'annus horribilis' speech and the Windsor Castle fire. It felt less like gossip and more like a real historical drama. Did anyone else find the later seasons more engaging?

The 'annus horribilis' speech was actually in 1992, which season 3 covered. Season 5 jumped ahead to the late 90s with the Diana crash.

So why skip the mid-90s stuff then?

Funny you say that because I actually tried to get into season 3 after hearing everyone rave about it, but I got bored halfway through and just skipped ahead to season 5. That Windsor Castle fire episode hit different because they really showed how the royals had to start paying taxes and fixing things themselves. Sometimes you gotta just jump ahead to the parts that actually grab you instead of forcing yourself through stuff you don't care about.
