Gave 'The Wire' a third try after hating it twice and now I get the hype
My brother kept telling me I was crazy for not liking it. Finally sat down last month and forced myself through the first 3 episodes. Something just clicked around episode 4 when they showed how the drug dealers and the police were basically running the same game. Ended up finishing all 5 seasons in 2 weeks lol. Did anyone else need multiple attempts before a classic finally hit for you?

Wait, did you notice how that same pattern shows up everywhere in life? Like the first time or two you try something and you're too busy fighting the surface level to see the real game underneath. I had the exact same thing with a job I hated for months until I realized the chaos and the politics were actually the same system working on both sides. Once you get past the part where everything feels wrong or boring, you start seeing the rules that were there from the start. It's like everyone's playing checkers while screaming about the pieces, and then one day you just see the whole board as chess instead. Idk, maybe that's just how our brains work with anything that takes effort to understand at first.

I mean, the checkers to chess thing is interesting, but what if the real shift is realizing there's no board at all? Like, @gonzalez.rowan you're talking about seeing the rules, but maybe the trick is that the rules keep changing depending on who's calling the game. Everyone's so busy leveling up their perspective they forget the whole thing might just be made up on the fly.
