Had a weird realization watching 'The Leftovers' last week

I finally figured out why I kept losing interest in shows halfway through. I was binge-watching 'The Leftovers' and got to season 2 when it hit me - I always skip the opening credits, but this show's credits are actually part of the storytelling. Has anyone else missed something obvious like that for years?

Just think most credit sequences are style over substance honestly.

Heard a podcast talking about this exact thing. Said some shows use the credits to set the mood or drop hints. Like the music and images are literally part of the story.

Honestly I'm not sure I buy that. In my experience most showrunners just think the credits look cool and aren't trying to hide clues in them.
