My entire weekend binge plan got wrecked by a surprise finale

I was six episodes into a new sci-fi show, planning to finish it Sunday. Then my friend casually dropped that the main character dies in the finale. It happened yesterday afternoon over a text, totally out of the blue. Now I have zero motivation to watch the last four episodes, because the whole mystery is gone. I spent the evening just scrolling through streaming menus instead. Has anyone else had a show completely ruined by a spoiler right before the end?

Ugh, that's the worst kind of spoiler... it just kills the whole journey. Isn't it weird how knowing one big thing can make all the little moments leading up to it feel pointless? I'd probably do the same thing and just drop the show. It feels like your friend stole the whole reason you were watching, not just the ending. Maybe try a totally different genre next weekend, something where the plot isn't so fragile.

Man, that really is the worst. It's like someone pops the whole balloon before you even get to blow it up. I get what you mean about the little moments feeling pointless. The whole fun is putting the pieces together yourself. Once that's gone, why bother? Your friend owes you a new show to watch, honestly.

Totally agree about it stealing the whole reason you were watching. I had a book ruined for me that way, where someone just blurted out the big twist in chapter five. It made every single page before that feel like a waste of time. I never even finished it, just lost all interest. You're right, switching to something completely different is the only move.
