The night I watched Dark at a buddy's cabin in Big Bear
I was up at this cabin near Big Bear Lake for a weekend trip with like 8 friends. One night it started snowing hard around 9pm and we all just kind of got stuck inside with nothing to do. Someone put on the first episode of Dark on Netflix (the German show, you know). I figured I'd watch one episode and then go to sleep, but three hours later we were all glued to the couch trying to figure out the timeline. The way they weave all those characters together across different decades is just insane. It honestly changed how I look at binge watching shows now because I used to just throw something on and scroll my phone. But this one forces you to pay attention or you're totally lost. Has anyone else found a show that made you completely change your watching habits?

Heard a podcast breakdown of Dark recently that explained how the showrunner knew the whole story from season 1. Most shows just wing it and hope for the best, but this guy mapped out every character across three timelines before filming anything. That level of planning is why you can't look away. Stuff like the Doppler family tree made my head hurt but in a good way. Made me realize most TV is just coasting while this show was doing calculus.

Hate to be that person but the showrunner was actually Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, not just one guy. They co-wrote the whole thing together from the start.
