Warning: The 2x speed trick backfired on me during the final season of The Expanse

Ngl, I tried watching everything at 2x speed to catch up before my friend's watch party last Saturday, but I missed so many plot details that I had to rewatch 10 episodes at normal speed and still showed up 20 minutes late, so has anyone else ruined a show by rushing it?
