Duct tape on the anvil horn fixed my stubborn ring trick

Been doing decorative rings for years, but the thin stock kept slipping sideways no matter how I gripped it. Last month in Toledo, I wrapped a strip of duct tape around my anvil horn and the friction held the piece steady through the whole bend. Tried it on 6 orders since then and not one slipped. Anybody else got a low-tech fix they swear by?
