Had to unlearn 12 years of hammer technique at Quad Cities forge-in
Watched a guy in Davenport work a ten-pound sledge like it was a toy, completely relaxed arms and all body rhythm, and realized I've been muscling steel this whole time. He gave me 20 minutes of correction and I've got the bruises to prove it, but has anyone else had to rebuild their swing from scratch after seeing it done right?

Yeah that hits home. Spent years swinging like I was trying to kill the anvil. One session with a old timer and my whole arm hurts from doing it right.

...and honestly it's like my body woke up from a 20 year nap and decided to file a complaint. I thought I knew what sore meant until I had a guy point out I was using my shoulder instead of my hips. Now I'm over here icing like I just ran a marathon when really I just swung a hammer for ten minutes. Ngl, the old school dudes make it look so effortless and then you try it and suddenly every muscle you forgot you had is screaming. But at least my anvil is finally getting the respect it deserves.
