The $12 farrier rasp outlasted my $90 Nicholson after 2 weeks

I figured the cheap one would fold during the first draw filing, but it's kept its teeth on mild steel and I'm about to finish a whole set of tongs with it, has anyone else had a bargain tool surprise them like that?

My garage is basically a graveyard of "bargain" tools I bought that turned out to be hot garbage, so when my 20 dollar rasp actually bit into some rebar last month, I nearly cried. Half my knuckles are missing from learning that cheap files sometimes have worse hardening, but hey, at least the handle's still on mine. Now every time I reach for it, I whisper "don't betray me" like it can hear me.
