The change I saw in anvils over 15 years

I went to a hammer-in in Ohio last weekend and noticed something wild. Fifteen years ago everyone was using beat up old Fisher anvils they found at farm auctions. Now I see more people bringing brand new cast steel anvils from places like NC Tool. It used to be rare to drop $800 on a new anvil but now I counted 12 of them on the demo line. Has anyone else seen this shift in their local blacksmith group?

Grabbed a new cast steel anvil from NC Tool last year after lugging around my grandpa's old beat up Fisher for years. Fisher was fine but too chipped and noisy for my tiny garage shop. The new one is dead quiet and I don't have to worry about hitting the edges too hard. Saw the same thing at our local guild meetup, maybe five or six guys had switched over in the last couple years.

Quieter shop's a game changer, bet that's half the reason honestly...
