Finally gave in and tried a frameback knife after swearing they were overhyped
I always thought framebacks were just a gimmick for people who liked showing off skeletonized handles, but I picked up a cheap one from a guy at the Portland knife show for 40 bucks last weekend. After carrying it for a week and using it to break down boxes at work, I totally get why people like the solid feel and the easy cleaning. Anyone else have a knife design they avoided for years and then changed their mind on?

Buddy of mine was dead set against slipjoints for years, called em unsafe old man knives. Then he dropped his expensive assisted opener in a lake while fishing last summer. He ended up borrowing some oldtimer from his grandpa's tackle box and used it to cut line, open bait packs, and even clean a trout for a week straight. Said he felt like a clown for spending so much on flashy stuff when that simple cheap knife just worked every time without failing. Now he has three slipjoints and barely touches his assisted collection.

Ngl same here. I slept on framebacks for the longest time thinking they were just tacticool nonsense. Now I get the hype, solid tools that just work.
