Stumbled on a stat that vintage blazers from the 80s used a weave pattern that's almost impossible to find now
I was reading a blog about wool mills shutting down in the 90s and found out that over 60% of small mills in the UK closed between 1990 and 2000, which explained why I can't find a decent replacement for my old herringbone jacket. Has anyone else run into this supply issue?

You tried looking up the mill that made your jacket? A lot of those old mills are still around but they changed names after being bought out. I found my dad's old Donegal tweed was actually from a place that rebranded in '94. Their website has a whole archive of vintage weaves you can order samples from. Also check estate sales in New England, I scored four yards of deadstock herringbone from a old tailor's shop that closed down.
