Took 4 hours to match the thread on a vintage blazer button
Old 1940s tweed sports jacket lost a button, spent hours hunting for the right thread color at Joann Fabrics. Finally found a 40 year old spool of brown silk in my grandma's sewing kit that matched perfectly. Anyone else waste a whole afternoon on something this dumb?

My grandma had a whole bag of thread from the 1950s that somehow still works perfectly, it's like they don't make thread like they used to. Sometimes the OLD stuff is honestly better than anything modern.

Man, @jade_butler you hit the nail on the head. That old thread was tough as nails, way better than the cheap stuff you find at craft stores today. They don't make anything to last anymore, it's all planned obsolescence. I swear my grandma's sewing stuff could outlast me. Guess some things really were built different back then.
