Took me 45 minutes to reinstall a pocket clip that should have taken 30 seconds.
Got a new custom knife last week. Clip was way too tight. Tried to loosen it and dropped the screw. Found it after 20 minutes on my hands and knees. Then realized I stripped the head. Had to order a new screw. Three days later it showed up. Got it on in under a minute. Anyone else waste ridiculous time on the simplest knife adjustments?

Used to think people who stripped screws were just hamfisted idiots who didn't know their own strength. Then I got a Benchmade with a clip screw that felt like it was made of Play-Doh. Spent an hour hunting a spring that launched into my carpet then another 45 minutes trying to get the replacement screw to thread without cross threading it. Totally changed my mind on this stuff. Now I keep a little magnetic tray on my desk for any knife work, even if it's just swapping a clip. Lesson learned the hard way.

dude @andrew646 totally nailed it with that magnetic tray tip, that's a game changer for real. i feel you on the stripped screw thing, happens to the best of us when manufacturers use soft metal. my absolute worst was a deep carry clip swap on a spyderco where the screw hole was tapped wrong from the factory. spent way too long forcing it, ended up messing up the threads in the handle itself. had to send it back for warranty which took like two weeks. now i always check the threading by hand before i even reach for a tool. nothing worse than a simple job turning into a whole afternoon project.
